The State of a Mother?

Repression ... a process by which unacceptable desires or impulses are excluded from consciousness and left to operate in the unconscious. Depression ... a mental state characterized by a pessimistic sense of inadequacy and a despondent lack of activity. Which is better?

I have spent many weeks looking at life, through the eyes of a mother ... through the eyes of a writer … through the eyes of an African-American … and I cannot truly say which is better ...

While in my introspective mode, I find myself fluctuating between the two – repressing the feelings of depression that try to overtake me. Single parenting is a task that kills many. Sometimes, mothers are so busy trying to make ends meet that they don’t take the necessary time they need to get proper preventive medical attention. And then you have mothers who need someone to talk to who won’t join their pity party, but offer them solutions to their ever growing problems with budding teens.

Life is something. Motherhood is something else. If you have a mother or if you are a mother, make sure you let them know how much you love and appreciate them. For those of you who may have lost a mother, don’t let depression become your state. Try to remember those times you positively treasure and have a blessed and Happy Mother’s Day.
